As we age, our skin loses collagen, elastin and fat. These are essential for giving our skin, and therefore faces, structure. We need plenty of each for supple, firm, and plump skin, giving us our youthful complexion. As these levels decrease with ageing, our skin becomes thinner, and our plump faces begin to develop lines and wrinkles.

We use fillers to strategically replace fat pads and volume, as well as filling out deep folds and wrinkles. We can also use fillers to plump up and contour our faces once more. The hyaluronic acid within fillers helps to hydrate and restore skin quality.

Some of the uses for dermal fillers includes:

  • Lip augmentation – probably the most common use of dermal fillers
  • Filling static lines that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds), and from the mouth to the chin (marionette lines)
  • Adding volume to sunken cheeks
  • Treating dark circles under the eyes (if caused by volume loss)
  • Contouring the jawline and chin
  • Liquid facelift
  • Non-surgical rhinoplasty (liquid nose job)
  • Filling deep acne scars
  • Rejuvenating ageing hands and necks
  • Body contouring – this uses a specialised filler to contour buttocks, fill hip dips, or contour the cleavage.

There are over 60 brands of dermal filler available in the UK, we use the fantastic, patented Stylage range by Laboratories Vivacy.
